SHOP SMALL + GIVE BACK | GO RED FOR WOMEN

Hi friends!

We are so excited to share that during the month of February you have an amazing opportunity to shop some incredible small businesses while also supporting the Carol Barr Fund through Kentucky’s American Heart Association.

A little bit about the Carol Barr Fund:

Carol Barr unexpectedly and tragically lost her life from heart disease at the young age of 39 in June 2020. To honor Carol’s legacy, the American Heart Association is working with Carol’s husband, US Congressman Andy Barr, to fund programs that support girls and women in Kentucky through Go Red For Women.

Join the American Heart Association and the friends and family of Carol Barr by supporting Go Red For Women today. Together, we are making a contribution in Carol’s honor to help fund STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) scholarships for girls in Kentucky.

We have partnered with some of the best local small businesses in Lexington and Georgetown to raise money for the Carol Barr Fun this month. By shopping with any of these amazing, women-owned businesses this month, you will be purchasing with a purpose! A portion of each of their sales this month are going to raising awareness and money for AHA’s fund honoring our beloved Carol’s life. Thank you in advance for linking arms with us in this way and supporting local small businesses.

We are deeply, deeply grateful.

CHANGING TIDES + NEW CHAPTERS || Goodbye MTB, Hello New Team!

For those that don’t know, Ty & Liz owned Twirl’s sister store, Meant To Be Boutique, since 2015. We announced a few months ago that we were closing our doors on September 28, 2019.

To get the full story, watch our video explaining it all:

With these changing tides, we are getting to open a new chapter here at Twirl! We have welcomed two amazing new girls to our Twirl team and we cannot wait for you to meet them if you haven’t already. Taylor & Kasey are true gifts to all who cross their paths and we are so grateful that even though the chapter of MTB is closed that the story of our time together isn’t finished.

Taylor & Kasey wrote a precious “farewell” post for Meant To Be on MTB’s blog but we want to savor it forever. It also gives you an incredible glimpse into their hearts so we thought we’d just copy & paste it over here to the Twirl blog so it could live on forever. ENJOY!! Xoxo

“FAREWELL BLOG POST || “MEANT TO ME”

by Taylor Clark & Kasey Gabbard

How in the world has Meant To Be been closed for nearly a month?! We have been so busy serving brides at Twirl that time just got away from us. Suddenly we blinked and September 28th, the official closing day of Meant To Be Boutique, was just a distant memory. Our MTB family has grown so much since we opened our doors in 2015, and we have so many fond memories of our sweet little shoppe. Our final blog post is a tribute to all the brides we have served, all the moments we have cherished, and all the lessons we have learned. Please enjoy reading our farewell sentiments, and maybe grab a box of tissues!

TAYLOR CLARK

Manager + Bridal Stylist of Meant To Be

Operations Manager + Bridal Stylist of Twirl

As I sit here writing this blog post on a random Tuesday afternoon, I can’t help but succumb to the immense weight of farewell. Let me paint a picture of my current state: I am crying into a mimosa as passersby glance at our gowns and then notice my distraught frame. Behold, Walton Avenue, the tiny crying girl surrounded by tulle: She will do great things. I don’t say that sardonically, though perhaps it might come across as such. No, I believe that with my whole heart. And not because I am convinced of my overwhelming might but because I have been so completely impacted by this tiny shop, with its blue door and black-and-white striped awning.

I started at Meant To Be in 2017 as a summer intern, and I have changed so wholly since my hire date. You see, this job forces you to confront so many emotions, both within yourself and within your brides. I have had joyous brides, morose brides, and discouraged brides. But every single bride has taught me this one universal truth: We are all searching for that one thing that is going to make us feel our most confident. For some of us, that means finding our dream dress. But more often than not, it means finding that person who encourages us to BELIEVE that our confidence has always been within us. I hope that throughout my time at MTB, I have been that person for some of my brides. I know that each of them, in their own special ways, have been that for me.

So, yes, I am so incredibly sad that this sweet shoppe will cease to exist, but its impact will never be lost on those who have been so blessed to have crossed its threshold. MTB has never been just another dress shop. It has always been a community of people, building each other up and supporting each other through some of the happiest, albeit most stressful, times in our lives. And I hope with all my heart that y’all will come visit me at Twirl, as I continue to share this legacy of Meant To Be with all of my new brides.

Xo,

Taylor

My time at Meant To Be has been the shortest of all of the lovely ladies I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by for the past 6 months. Although my time has been short, it has been nothing less than amazing. I have been nothing but ecstatic that they gave me the opportunity to live out my lifelong dream. Ask anyone in my family, I have been wedding crazy since day #1 and this has been a dream come true for me! I gave my poor mother a heart attack after I found out that I got the job here, when I called her crying. I was so happy and she thought that something had happened to one of my dogs (LOL, nope just me dying of happiness.)

As I watch Taylor do our first appointment of the day, I can’t help but be filled with joy and gratefulness to have been a part of this all. The opportunity to lead brides to finding their most confident selves in the way of their wedding dress has been so fulfilling. Meant To Be has brought me so much. Even more than the love of serving brides, it has brought me new knowledge of an industry I love so much, new friends to revel in happiness with and even new appreciation for the world around us. This has been such a happy place to work. Every bride who I have been so honored to meet has shown me true happiness and the love that they hold in their hearts. Each love story I’ve heard of how they each met their special person has brought me to love and appreciate mine even more than I thought possible (Shout out to my fiance - AHH.) There are no words that come close to how I feel and that I would need to express my thanks to Ty, Liz, and Taylor.

So thank you. To each of my brides, who I have had the great pleasure of getting to know and help on their way to their big days. Thank you for hiring me and showing me so much unconditional love and support through this marvelous journey. And especially to my soon to be bridesmaid, the most helpful, best, and sweetest teacher/manager I’ve ever had. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For everything, truly.

With so much love and gratitude,

Kasey

And now that we have gotten all those sappy words off of our chests, please feel free to share your love for MTB with us, too! Nothing makes us happier than hearing from our brides. Kasey and I hope that your hearts will cherish the time you spent at Walton Avenue, and we feel so blessed to have been a part of your love story. We love our MTB Family so much!!

Xo,

Taylor & Kasey

AND FROM THE OWNERS….

We, Liz & Ty, had no idea that Taylor and Kasey would share all those words above and wow. They leave us speechless. One of our biggest prayers when opening the doors to MTB was “may stories of joy & redemption be the melody of this adventure.” And to read the words that Taylor & Kasey wrote above give us the deepest affirmation that our prayers were answered. This chapter may be over but this story isn’t finished. We are so deeply, deeply grateful for every bride (nearly 1000 of you) that said “yes” to their dream dress with us since December 2015, for every amazing MTB gal that joined our team and loved our brides, and to our insanely wonderful community of vendors, family, and friends that supported this dream from the beginning. We are forever changed by this sweet little shoppe and will cherish forever the memories and lessons its walls held for so many of us. Taylor & Kasey’s words encourage us that the legacy we prayed this business would create was in fact achieved and for that we are so insanely humbled and profoundly thankful.

TheMalicotes(174of246).jpg

Thank you for everything. We love you forever.

XO, Liz Cox & Ty McBrayer

And also, don’t forget — the party isn’t over! Let us celebrate you over at Twirl!! The fam is still together and would love nothing more than to toast to you and help you find your most favorite dress. XO!

So yeah — there ya have it! Say hello to our newest Twirl team. It’s just the four of us now and we’re so excited about what the future holds for all of us.
