Can you give the readers a little background about your business? How long have you been in business and what services do you offer your clients?

Growing up, my grandfather would drive me past the estate and tell me the story of how his uncle, my great great uncle, sold the farm in order to travel to Europe. My grandfather always dreamed of buying back the estate and thanks to our family friends, The Pruitt’s, who were currently residing in the estate at the time, my grandfather was able to buy it back. Now, 8 years later, we are beyond grateful to have the estate and share it with others throughout the community. GlenLary can be rented for a day or overnight and will give you the comforting feeling of being at home while also having an elaborate, glamorous feel. No matter the event, GlenLary can be the venue for you and your special guests.

Where did the inspiration for your business come from?

I was the first to get married at GlenLary Estate back in 2011 and that definitely inspired me to open the doors to other brides so I could share the joy that I’ve received from the estate. I’m from the corporate event-planning world, which has well prepared me for the hard work and dedication that goes into managing a venue as substantial as the estate.

How do you contribute your passions into your daily work routine?

At GlenLary, we love to build friendships with our brides and maintain those friendships for years to come. Once a bride is married at our estate, she becomes part of the family and I always try my best to see previous and upcoming brides during my visits to Kentucky. They are so special to us and I love that we share a connection through GlenLary Estate.

What’s the best part of running your own business/ being your own boss?

Everything is the best. I love having the freedom to dictate my own schedule and work where I want and when I want. Technology allows me to run my businesses from anywhere, which is so great since I’m not able to be in Kentucky 24/7. GlenLary is a family business so being able to see the benefits that it provides for my family is so rewarding and it makes me cherish our business even more.

What is your favorite part about working in the wedding industry?

My favorite part is getting to meet people like Ty and Liz. The wedding industry in Kentucky is filled with happy people who love what they do and who want to spread love through out the community. That is incredibly special and makes my job so much more enjoyable.

How do you define “success”?

Some people define success as making money, but to me it’s all about loving what you do and looking forward to continuing to pursue and grow your career. If someone asked me if a wedding at GlenLary was successful, I would measure that based on my abilities to bring as much joy as possible and do as much as I possibly could for the happy couple.

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?

I really love where our business is right now and I hope that we are able to maintain the steady amount of GlenLary weddings that we have each year. We are not a wedding factory so we tend to have a handful of weddings each year, rather than a handful of weddings each month. That allows us to really focus on our brides and give them one-on-one attention.

This blog series is titled, “The Heart Behind”. You were chosen because of your love for people and your caring attitude. How do you pass your grace and love onto your customers?

I believe in doing whatever I can for our customers so that their wedding day runs as smooth as possible. Sometimes that means phone calls at 4 am, ironing linens for hours, or getting red wine out of a wedding dress. No matter the circumstance, I am always willing to help our brides and I feel like there’s no hurdle I can’t overcome.

What advice would you give someone who was considering starting his or her own business?

Have patience and have faith. It takes time to build up your business and there will be days when you want to throw your computer out the window. On those days, it’s important to remember why you chose to start your business and if that’s not enough then maybe it’s not for you.

Isn't she the best?! We adore this lady & the fabulous venue she & Diane run with their family. This series is one of our new favorites because we get to know the hearts behind these amazing businesses and getting to know Elizabeth more like this just makes our hearts so happy. GlenLary is truly one of the most beautiful venues in Kentucky and we absolutely love when our brides celebrate the most special days of their lives out there. We know our brides are taken well care of when they're a GlenLary bride!
