New York Bridal Fashion Week 2011

Bridal Fashion Week is one of my favorite times all year!  In case you are not familiar with just what bridal fashion week is, here is a brief overview...all of the most fabulous wedding industry professionals gather in New York at the same time!  For example, we spotted the amazing wedding planner, Colin Cowie, and the stars of "Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta" at the same appointments we were attending!  This is the opportunity for designers to show their new collections for the upcoming year and talk to the stores that sell their lines and answer questions about what they foresee as the top sellers.

We then get to come home with gorgeous photos to show our brides and bridesmaids!  Even though we have the photos, the actual dresses will not be in stores until January/February or later, depending on designer.

In meeting with all of the Twirl Lexington designers, here are just a few trends we saw for 2012...

Bridal:

  • Lace and Swiss Dot!  The Jenny Yoo Collection really wowed us with their new bridal styles.  Two of my favorite dresses from the entire time I was in New York were by Jenny Yoo.   We also scouted several other bridal lines that you may see at Twirl in the future!

Bridesmaids:

  • A definite "Mad Men" vibe was felt in the styles of many of the more structured type dresses we saw.  Bows, ruffles and feminine details were everywhere!
  • Soft, romantic chiffon dresses are also huge and the draping and detail were amazing.

We are so excited to show you all of these dresses in person!  The iPad photos just do not do them justice!  We would love to hear what you think...and if you would like to be notified when any of the new dresses arrive, please let us know!  Call us at 859-309-2493 or email us at: ty@twirllexington.com.

New Fall Arrivals at Twirl Lexington

We were an excited group of girls this week oooh-ing and awww-ing over the second season of Monique Lhuillier Bridesmaid dresses we just received!  The colors, textures and details are nothing short of amazing.

These are just two examples of our new faves!  There are many more in the store.  Call (859-309-2493) or email us at ty@twirllexington.com  to set up your appointment to check them out!

Happy Swooning!

Lexington's Dress of the Week

"Classic with a Fun & Flirty Side"

My favorite for this week is Alfred Sung D465.  It's a new bridesmaid style for Fall 2010 and I'm absolutely in love with it!  The dress is perfect for just about everyone and your bridesmaids would most definitely wear it again.  It's structured with a band just above the natural waistline so it will create a lovely hourglass figure.  Plus there's a bow center-front on the waistband and a ruffle around the neckline so everyone can get in touch with their girly side while still being sophisticated.

The bodice works for any bust size: There's plenty of dress there to hold in a larger cup size and the ruffles can be tacked to provide more coverage.  For women with a smaller chest (like me) the deep V and ruffles help to accentuate what they have.  Oh, and you can wear a regular bra instead of suffering through a strapless all day!  The skirt is what I like to call a modified pencil.  There's slight pleating in the middle where is connects to the waistband which will camouflage anything one might be unhappy about with their hips and tummy.  Also, there's a slit in the back of the skirt that will allow your girls to be able to walk and dance with ease :)

The dress comes in short or long, two fabrics: peau de soie or dupioni, and in many different colors so it will work for a wedding in any season.  It's also very affordable coming in under $200.  We've only had it in for two days and everyone that has seen it loves it!
